Breezy Summer Services
Sunday, 10:30 AM
July 17, 24, 31, 2005

Nobody does it better than our own Rev. David Clinker! But when he's away for a well-deserved vacation, your Worship Committee tries to fill the gap with mid-summer services seeking the spirit in slightly different ways. Here's what's in store:

July 17th - Summer Journey
Hymns, Bible passages and readings on the theme of the journey of the spirit, linked by the musical improvisations of Michel Gauthier and Solar Jazz, this time adding a sax to the breezy combo of keyboard, double-bass and drums.

July 24 - Songs and Prayers of Taizé
Johanne Patry of Unitas, the Ecumenical Centre for Christian Meditation and Spirituality, returns to lead us in the cycle of scriptural chants and simple melodies, contemplative silence and short readings that make up the flow of continuous meditative prayer originated by the monastic community in Taizé:, France.

July 31 - What's New?
Between prayers and reflections, the choir will help us tackle some of the new hymns we are "test-driving" this summer for possible inclusion in More Voices United.

Echoes of Ashes Meditation
Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at 7:30 p.m.
Begin Lent with an Ash Wednesday time of reflection on our place in the cosmos and a session of Christian meditation, guided by Patricia Coon of the Unitas Ecumenical Centre for Christian Meditation and Spirituality. We will again examine meditation as a form of prayer for ordinary, busy people living in a hectic, challenging world.

Lent and Love Luncheon
Sunday, February 13, 2005 11:45 AM in Lynn Hall
Come warm your heart among good friends with a steaming bowl of home-made chili and a scrumptious dessert. We might even find some musical talent to serenade us and lead us all in song. Your Membership Committee guarantees that this will banish any winter doldrums hanging about. Bring a friend - but most of all, bring yourself. We're all looking forward to seeing you!

FIELD TRIPS FOR GROWNUPS - SYNAGOGUE
Fri., April 1, 2005, 6 p.m.,

1000 Lucerne Rd. TMR
We're off again! This time, we're visiting our neighbours at Congregation Beth-El on Lucerne Rd. We will attend the 45-minute Sabbath eve service of prayers and afterwards, Rabbi Ronnie Cahana will explain the main tenets of Judaism and answer any questions. Beth-El is a Conservative congregation and men and women worship together. Jackets and ties, skirts and dresses are the preferred attire. Head coverings will be provided for men and married women, or you can wear your own hat. Supper at a restaurant might happen afterwards. There is ample parking in the lot beside the synagogue. We want to arrive 10 to 15 minutes before the service starts, so we will be leaving the Lynn Hall at 5:30 p.m. on April 1. Call the church office (739-7741) as soon as possible to let us know if you will be joining us. This trip is part of a series run by your Adult Christian Education Committee to foster Insight into Other Religions.
